[Point in time taken from canon] After the main arc ends, but before the f arc begins
[Background]
Pascal is a member of the Amarcian tribe, located in Fendel. Only accessible via a portal in one of the countries northernmost mountain ranges, the Amarcian Enclave is a medium-sized city in some otherspace, and home to the Amarcian tribe. The tribe is thought by the general populace to be extinct, but in actuality only the ancient race of Amarcians are extinct. The new generation, while not as talented as their forefathers, are still talented scientists and engineers.
Pascal's parents died when she was young. She was raised by her older sister, Fourier. She was a talented engineer. When she turned twenty, she decided to leave the Enclave to investigate various Ancient Amarcian ruins scattered throughout the world. Two years into her journey, she fell asleep after exploring ruins in Windor, and woke up to find Sophie, Asbel, and Richard. Pascal recognized Sophie from one of the hologram displays in the ruins, and approached her excitedly. Unfortunately, Sophie wasn't very amused and blew Pascal back several yards. However, she tagged along with the group anyway, showing them a way through the Wallbridge ruins and helping them get to their next destination.
She helped Richard, a foresaken prince, retake the throne of Windor, but all the while tensions were brewing between Richard and Sophie. However, while this had been going on, Richard's sanity had started to slip. After the throne was retaken, the party returned to Lhant, Asbel's hometown. Asbel's brother, Hubert, had taken the city in the name of a neighboring nation, Strahta. Before the party and Hubert can come to blows, however, Lhant is attacked by monsters, and Richard loses it. He takes control of the monsters and turns on the party, before being defeated and escaping.
The party continues their merry adventures, and in order to aide Asbel’s brother Hubert, go to Strahta. Their first stop is Oul Raye, a town that also serves as the port and entry to the country, but nothing of note happens until the party gets to the next town, Sable Izolle. It’s here that Pascal learns how to summon Cyandine, while (for a lack of better term) derping around the research institute, and hear that the party learns of a monster that both threatens and is responsible for the success of Sable Izolle; Rockgagong. The party leaves the town in order to head to the country’s capital, Yu Liberte, but unfortunately is eaten by the Rockgagong en route. After a great deal of fighting and drama inside the Rockgagong’s stomach, the party final manages to make it to the capital city.
Here, they meet with the president of Strahta, and after some drama involving Hubert and his foster father, are asked to check on the country’s Valkynes. The Valkynes’s function is to act as a spring of eleth, providing eleth to the world, and therefore allowing plants to grow and life to flourish. When the party gets there, they find out that it’s been malfunctioning recently, but Pascal quickly fixes the problem with a few swings of her hammer.
However, it’s at this point that Richard arrives (riding a flock of giant demon bird monsters) and drains the Valkynes of its eleth, rendering it useless. The party and Richard fight, and after being defeated, Richard flies away.
Once they arrive back in Yu Liberte, the party reunites with Hubert, their final member, and decide that their next move is to go to Fendel, the icy country to the north, which is currently under martial law. They depart, and after a short stop at Warrior’s Roost, manage to sneak in.
After a few relatively uneventful stops, the party finds its way to the capital city, Zavhert. Unfortunately, they’re spotted quickly, and come under attack. They manage to escape the city, and on the outskirts, Pascal reveals that she’s a member of the Amarcian tribe, which was thought by the outside world to be extinct. Hubert, who was skeptical in the beginning, becomes even more suspicious, and loses what little trust he had left for her.
As they’re about to reach the enclave, Hubert is caught off guard and attacked by a monster. Pascal pushes him out of the way, taking the blow instead, and she regains his trust. This is also the start of their friendship.
In the enclave, they find out that Pascal’s sister, Fourier, is doing experiments on the Valkynes. Pascal realizes that the experiments were based on her old data that she had abandoned, realizing there was no way to safely extract the eleth of the Valkynes, and that if the experiments continued, the Valkynes could blow, destroying a large part of the country.
The group travels to Fourier’s lab, a short distance from the enclave, and meet with Fourier. Pascal tries to warn Fourier of the dangers of the experiment, but her sister brushes it off, angry. Pascal had always been the one who could exceed without even trying (even though she was capable of doing everyday things and Fourier was the one who had raised her), and was constantly a burden for her sister. Her sister, partly jealous, refused to stop the experiments, and the party decided that they needed to talk to the person who was in charge of the experiments on the governmental side, a decorated officer named Kurt.
As they head out of the enclave, Pascal begins to cry, upset that she had made her sister angry. Hubert reassures her, comparing her situation with him and his brothers, and the party continues on. They sneak up to his office, and find that he’s gone, and that he’s already headed to the Valkynes.
They chase him there, and after a small confrontation, Kurt realizes the danger of the experiment, and sacrifices himself to stop it. Shortly after this, Richard shows up, drains the Valkynes of its eleth, and leaves. After chasing Richard around the country, him and Sophie eventually battle, and the latter is gravely wounded. None of their healing artes seem to work, and after a fair amount of digging, they realize that if there’s anywhere they can go to “fix” Sophie, it’s the planet that Ephinea acts as a satellite to, Fodra.
After darting around from town to town, the party finally manages to find and get the shuttle in working order and departs. Pascal is sad that her sister didn’t come to help with the launch, but as the shuttle takes off, it gets attacked by Richard’s monsters. Fourier then appears and fights them off so the party can pass, and Pascal realizes that her sister is not only totally awesome, but also loves her regardless.
The shuttle crash lands on Fodra, and the party walks to the nearest city, Telos Astue. The city is abandoned, and the only beings that the party finds are humanoid like-creatures, until they head to one of the lounges. There, they find a strange woman who has been cryogenically frozen for the last thousand years. She explains that her name is Emeruade, and that she knows what Sophie is, and how she can fix her.
Once they reach the humanoid research center, Emeraude explains that Sophie is a being originally named “Protos Heis”, which was made to combat Lambda. As it turns out, Lambda is the one who’s responsible for the recent monster attacks, and is currently possessing Richard. After fixing Sophie, Emeraude explains that in order to destroy Lambda, Protos Heis was equipped with a mutual destruct function.
The party, however, doesn’t want to sacrifice Sophie, and after a few other adventures on Fodra, manages to make it back to Ephinea and infiltrate Richard’s home base.
After they confront Richard, they manage to separate him from Lambda. Before they can fight Lambda, Emeruade attempts to absorb him so that she can utilize his powers to drain the remaining Eleth from Ephinea and return life to Fodra. Lambda’s not very pleased with this, and kills Emeraude violently before returning to Richard. Richard leaves again, and heads to the Ghardia shaft. From there, he plans to access the planet’s core and drain the remaining eleth.
The party follows, and after defeating Richard in the depths of the Ghardia shaft, Sophie tries to implement to the mutual destruction function. However, Asbel pushes her out of the way, giving a speech about how he’ll protect everyone, and absorbs Lambda himself. Instead of being taken over by Lambda like Richard, instead he offers his body as a host where Lambda can remain dormant and he can continue to live. Nobody dies.
Pascal stays in Zavhert, continuing her experiments. It’s implied that she devises a plumbing system to circulate hot water through the capital city.
[Personality]
If there was one word to describe Pascal, it would probably be wacky. To say that she wears her emotions on her sleeve would be an understatement; she's often overly expressive, and usually acts without first thinking. She's always moving or always needs to be in motion, if she's standing, she's not standing still, but transferring her weight from foot to foot. At first glance, she's very impulsive, and doesn't seem to have a clear understanding of personal boundaries or social norms, but upon further inspection it's easy to wonder if she does have an accurate understanding of these things, but just chooses to ignore it in favor of being herself. Her speech style is very unique, often employing onomonopeia and other strange word combinations (such as "Mwah hah hah hanky panky").
In spite of this, however, she's very intelligent. As her sister points out, she's often able to do things easily and intuitively, sometimes without putting in effort. She's very smart, and was the one who was able to figure out a majority of the issues the party had during the game. Because of this, she's a very talented engineer and researcher, and was actually the one who paved the way for her sister's research in using the Valkynes for fuel, and it was her designs the Fendel military used in order to extract eleth to power their weapons. Her research focuses on Cryas and Eleth, and she was able to make many interesting discoveries and inventions. Using the fire Valkynes, she pioneered a rudimentary plumbing system for Fendel's capital city. In her spare time, she builds robots. Unfortunately, as a natural outcome of her personality, her research doesn't always pan out. Whether she leaves to do something else or it explodes in her face (literally) she often has trouble following through on a project until it's finished, often electing to do something more interesting instead. She's also a bit reckless with how she conducts her research, and has caused many explosions before.
Pascal's not very intuitive when it comes to hygiene. Or rather, she might be, and just chooses not to follow social norms. She doesn't bathe regularly, which is a constant source of stress for her and her teammates, but it's not because she detests baths. Rather, it's easy for her to get absrobed in her research, and when she does, she doesn't want to take time off until the research is done or she's ready to move onto something else. When she does, the bath water is often cold or gone. She rarely finds time to clean up around her room, and as a result, it's in a constant state of disorder. She doesn't very much care for manners either, and will often sleep in "unladylike" positions or do something the situation doesn't call for.
That being said, there are some hints that her behavior isn't the result of her failing to read a situation, but reading it and acting the way she does anyway. When Richard first begins to lose it, she shelters Sophie from some of the crueler things he does, and she's willing to protect her friends (even if it means throwing herself in front of a charging boar). She's usually able to guess people's intentions, even when it's not expressly stated, although she often doesn't do anything with this information.
If there's one person who's intentions she isn't able to clearly read, however, it's her sister Fourier. Their parents died when they were young, so Fourier was responsible for raising her younger sister. Fourier was intelligent, but not as intuitively smart as Pascal and had to make it up with hard work. This, along with having to raise a child like Pascal, often made Fourier overly stressed and she would often shout at her or belittle her sister. Pascal was never really able to separate the times that Fourier was angry at her for doing something wrong and the times that Fourier was angry because she felt inferior to her sister, so this gave Pascal a sort of inferiority complex of her own. Regardless of what she does, she doesn't ever feel that it can really measure up to what her sister's done, and is constantly seeking her sister's approval and affection.
Despite all of this, though, the two are still a pair of close siblings and the most important people in the world to each other. Fourier would be sad if Pascal were to ever leave, and Pascal wouldn't know what to do without her sister.
She usually doesn't make an effort to seek people out, especially people she doesn't know (That aren't Sophie). She's warm to everyone, but unless someone approaches her first or it's a necessity, she often won't interact with them. A lot of her speech can be really repetitive, and usually falls into one of three categories: Technobabble, bananas, or completely incomprehensible. She does value her friends, though, and would do almost anything for them.

Incantation Guide
In addition to being a talented engineer, Pascal is also a competent fighter. She modded her staff to be a shotstaff, so while she can attack at short range, she can also defeat enemies at a distance. In addition, she also is a summoner, and is able to call the three entities that govern Ephinea: Sylfie, Bloodflamme, and Cyandine. While there’s usually to practical reason to call on them, and it’s impossible for her to do so frequently.
Being a summoner also means that she has the ability to use elemental magic. However, almost all of her spells have an extremely short range so she’s at a slight disadvantage casting.
[Sample post]
[First Person]
- What do you think of your home world?
Ephinea? It’s really cool! It’s got lots of awesome ruins and stuff, and lots of bananas.
- If you could go back home, would you? Why or why not?
Probably. It’s pretty cool here, but I kinda miss my sister and Lil’Bro. And I need to make sure that the pipe system in Zavhert holds up.
- If you were to describe yourself in one sentence, what would that be?
Completely and totally awesome!
- Would you consider yourself a power hungry individual?
Nah, not at all. The only thing I’m hungry for is Bananas!
- Someone comes to you to ask for the time. How would you respond?
With the time, duh.
- Someone is trying to rob you! What do you do?
Fight ‘em off!
- If you could have any super ability, what would it be and why?
Probably telekinesis. It’d make working around the lab much easier if I could move things with my mind and stuff. But the ability to never take a bath again and always pass the smell test would be really cool!
- You are on the verge of death. You know there is no way to survive and there's no coming back. Choose any of the following to answer: How do you feel? Who is the last person you think of other than your killer?
I’d probably think of my sister or Lil’Bro. But I think it’d be really lonely.
- Murder. What is your opinion?
Whoa, that’s totally bad stuff. It’s silly. You’re really hurting a lot of people for no reason at all.
- There is a cake in the rain. What do you do?
Is it a banana cake? If it is, eat it!
- Would you consider yourself a well traveled person? If so, what are some of your favorite places? If not, would you want to travel or is there some place you want to go?
I unno, probably. I mean, I’ve been all over the world and even to Fodra. But nothing beats looking through all the documents stored in the Archive of Wisdom!
- Do you prefer adventure or the peaceful life?
Adventure! Peaceful life is cool and stuff, but it’s reaaaaally boring.
- Do you prefer the city or living out in the country? Why?
Which one has more machines?
- If you could fight in a giant robot, what would it be and what would you do?
Oh! I know, it could be a giant mecha Fodra Queen! But that’d be okay, ‘cause I’d have my giant mecha Asbel! The fight would go all like whoosh whoosh klink bang bang boom! But mecha asbel’d definitely win in the end!
-- Is the best part of waking up having Folger's in your cup?
Hmm…it depends. Are there bananas on the side? If so, then yes!
- Do you have any future goals or dreams? What are they?
Well, I dunno. I thought it would be kind of cool to travel the world and investigate Amarcian ruins and stuff, but I kinda already did that. I’d like to continue my research, but it’d also be cool to continue to help out in Zavhert. Oh! And touch Sophie~!
- Oh look, there's a double rainbow!
Omigosh, no way! It’s like going whoosh whoosh all the way across the sky! I wonder what’s at the end…
- What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
That’s easy. Taking into account the weight ratio and frequency and amplitude of the swallows fight, it’d be…Yeah! It’d be about 10 meters per second.
- If you could be superhero, what would your codename and special power be?
Hmm…Oh! I could be the Banana Blitzer, and Lil’Bro could be my sidekick, Onion Knight! I’d fly through the sky on my giant robotic banana like whoosh whoosh, and when the evil Captain Fendel appeared we’d fight like boom boom bang!
- You find yourself on a robot unicorn. What do you do?
Omigosh, really!? I guess I’d take it apart. It would be interesting to see how a robot built by somebody else ran.
- Do you believe in the magic of friendship?
Wow! That sounds like something Asbel would say! Did he put you up to this? But yeah, I guess I do.
- What disgusts you the most?
Baths, ewwww. I mean, warm baths aren’t so bad. But bathing in cold water! Yuck!
[Third Person]
When she first heard of the ruins, Pascal jumped with joy. Not only could this mean a way home, but they were also ruins, and when were ruins not awesome? Never. The answer was never. Ruins were always awesome. She’d had a fun time exploring all of the ruins the Ancient Amarcians had left around Ephinea, and while she suspected that these new ruins miiiight also be Amarcian in origin. If they weren’t, that was even better! She could explore a whole new set of ruins and learn about another culture, and even more about Somarium.
The person who told her and mentioned that it would probably be dangerous to go alone, but what did they know? She had her trusty staff with her, and that had always managed to protect her before. Besides, if things got back, she could always just get out. It was no biggie.
The ruins seemed pretty boring at first, pretty run of the mill stuff. She couldn’t even gleam anything interesting from Somarium from it, it was just a bunch of rooms one after the other, with no distinctive markings.
But then, she found the secret room. It was like hitting the jackpot! There were ancient glyphs and murals inscribed on the wall, a diorama in the center of the room, but most interestingly, there was what appeared to be a broken portal in the corner of the room, covered in dust.
Pascal quickly got to work taking notes on the floating mountain. It looked kinda like the one she had seen in Somarium, but she hadn’t been here long enough to be sure. There was some sort of castle…thing built into it. She stuck out a hand, trying to nudge it, but it wouldn’t budge.
"So much for this place being Amarcian."
She sighed. Then again, new ruins were always welcome, and she couldn’t really expect Amarcian ruins in this place anyway. She hadn’t heard of anybody else from Ephinea eveeeeeeer visiting Somarium; Pascal might have been the first. So, yeah. No Amarcian ruins. But that was okay.
Pascal jotted down a few notes on the murals on the wall before moving to the teleporter on the other side of the room. It appeared to have been out of order for some time, but it was nothing a few hits from her trusty hammer couldn’t fix!
She took the tool out of her pouch and bonked the device a few times. Nothing. Upon closer inspection, it appeared that whatever had been used to power the teleporter was no longer present.
"Aww nuts! It’s broken. I wonder if I can find something around the city to fix it…"
It was at this point that she realized she wasn’t alone in the room. She turned around to find a rather large Scorpion standing near the entrance. It didn’t look happy.
"Yikes!"
This was a job for her trusty shot staff! She whipped out her trusty shotstaff, and sent a fury of multicolored sparks towards the monster. It seemed a little dazed, but didn’t look any worse for wear. Before it could regain consciousness, she ran out of the room, into the main hallway.
Unfortunately, the scorpion also followed, and it looked like it was gaining on her fast. With the little bit of space she had left, she took her staff out and started casting.
"Drink of the depths of the blue, strike with the purest of will! Cyandine!"
Cyandine appeared, and in a flash, the monster had been lost in her waves. Pascal sighed, leaning against one of the walls in the ruin. Maybe exploring the ruins by herself hadn’t been the best of ideas. She should take a nap.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Pascal is one of my favorite characters and I missed being able to use my muse. Also Som is an awesome game. And Banana pudding.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?]The no selfcest rule. Selfcest is squicky.
[Any questions?] Will there be free banana pie?
